It was great to see some of you last week in Paris at XTech where Mike
Smith, Dave Raggett and I held our first BOF session. There was a decent
turnout and a good debate over some of the major issues that we have
brought up in the past such as support for extended metadata, dialog
design and obviously security.
Some of the takeaways:
- Keep it simple
- Start with lat/lon and leave a path for enriched geo metadata, but
start with lowest common denominator initially
- Architectures were discussed that would allow for the passing of
location data as HTTP headers in the same way that browser based
authentication works. This way location information is available at the
time of page load
For anyone who is going to be at Where2.0 next week, we will be holding
a BOF on Tuesday night, so please join us.
Best, Ryan
